  Why IDUG?

IDUG 2008– North America
May 18-22, 2008
Hyatt Regency Dallas
Dallas, Texas, USA

The opportunity to experience IDUG and the vast array of education, networking and training opportunities available is highly valuable to DB2 users looking to enhance their professional development and increase the efficiency of their organization.

To help interested individuals justify cost of attending IDUG conferences for training, we have compiled a Justification Tool Kit that fits various needs and will help build a strong case to attend or send employees to IDUG 2008 – North America.

Below are the various tool kits readily available depending upon your position:

What is IDUG?

The International DB2 Users Group (IDUG) is an independent, not-for-profit, user-driven organization dedicated to providing the highest quality of education and services to the worldwide DB2 user community. Founded in 1988, IDUG has been helping users of IBM's DB2 relational-database engine improve their professional efficiency and their organization's return-on-investment from DB2 for nearly 20 years. Through education, technical resources, and unique access to fellow users, product developers and solutions providers – all driven by users for the benefit of other users – IDUG empowers DB2 information management professionals to improve the performance of DB2 in their shop, to better harness the power of DB2 to achieve organizational business objectives, and to drive personal career development.

Why Attend THIS Conference?

It is difficult for technology managers and senior data management technicians to find meaningful training that can provide both breadth and depth in targeted technologies. The IDUG North America conference has proven, for many DB2 professionals, to deliver the best value as a training alternative to pure depth training (e.g. a 4-day class on Database Performance Tuning).  The quality and quantity of educational value of the IDUG conference has been consistent and cost beneficial over the years.

The program consists of nine DB2 and two IMS technical tracks.  The tracks run concurrently and the 2008 program will offer nearly 200 technical sessions. The presentations are conducted by a mix of DB2/IMS users, IBM developers and consultants.  There are also keynote sessions and spotlight sessions that give broad coverage of where DB2 and IMS are going in the future.

Throughout the conference, there are ongoing opportunities to discuss technology with IBM developers, fellow users, and vendors across a broad continuum of database, tool, and related product issues. In addition, free IBM DB2 and IMS certification testing is offered allowing to gain DB2 and/or IMS certifications.

Don't take our word for it.  Hear what past attendees have to say about their experience.
